Picture Book for Children Aged 3 to 7
This book tells the story of Tommy, a little boy who is afraid of a dog that wants to play with him. The dog follows Tommy everywhere, but Tommy runs away. He runs so far away that he becomes lost. But the dog is a shepherd and he finds Tommy and protects him. In the end they become good friends.
The Dog Who Wanted to Play is inspired by the epic poem “The Hound of Heaven” by Francis Thompson. Like C. S. Lewis’s Aslan, Dog, the good shepherd, watches over the children, even those who run away from him.
